David C. Mah

1933 - 2024

David C. Mah, 90, of Arlington, Tennessee passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024 with loved ones by his side.

He was born to the late Sam and Jean Mac on April 5, 1933 in Canton, China. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Yee Sine Nee Seto and his sister, Marjorie Wong.

As a young man, he came to America through San Francisco and then to Simcoe, Ontario, Canada to work with his father in his restaurant. David became a proficient cook of all types of American diner classics and Chinese cuisine. He enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball. He especially enjoyed watching any type of sports. He kept multiple TVs on - constantly flipping through the different NFL and NBA games. He recently watched Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers three times in case he missed something.

David lived in Lake Village, AR for 55 years before moving to Arlington, TN, May 2021. He owned Dave's Food Mart in Lake Village for 27 years before retiring in 1999.

He was a gentle soul who was kind, humble, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed but rejoice that he is now in Heaven.

David is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lillian Mah; his children, Dolly Lock (Charles) of Collierville, TN, Doreen Sit (Jerold) of Brandon, MS, Edwin Mah of Washington D.C., Dorann Simmons of Arlington, TN, Dora Smith (Michael) of Little Rock, AR, David G. Mah of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Sii (Solomon), Kelsey Lock, Brenna Li (Mark), Caroline Sit, Joshua Simmons, Lauren Sit, Noah Simmons, Elliott Smith, Charlotte Smith; one niece and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David's honor to the American Diabetes Association or Bellevue Missions Widows Ministry.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, March 9 at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN. A celebration of life will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will be held privately for the family.
