Joe McGlown Obituary

Joe Willie McGlown, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on March 25, 1943, in Taylor, Mississippi, to David McGlown and Rosie B. Martin. He peacefully passed away in March 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion to family, faith, and service. At an early age, Joe Willie accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of North Hopewell M.B. Church. Later, he joined Temple of Deliverance COGIC, where he continued to grow in his faith and serve the Lord. Joe Willie graduated from Taylor High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. As a Sergeant, he proudly fought in the Vietnam War, a testament to his courage, dedication, and patriotism. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lela Ewell McGlown; his children, Trina McGlown (Darius) and Anthony McGlown (Teresa); and his five grandchildren, Antrontte McGlown, Acura Johnson, Brittany James, Keoshia McGlown, and Camri Murrell. Joe Willie also leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren who brought him great joy. He will be deeply missed by his nine sisters: Shirley Carothers, Rosa Wright, Alice McGlown, Joyce Mays, Ada Jones, Jeanette Linsey, Doristine Jones-Hearin, Bernestine Wright, and Mary Ewell (Dean), as well as his brother, Virgil Jones (Wanda). He is also survived by his beloved aunt, Versie Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joe Willie's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family, his deep faith, and his service to his country. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the love he shared with all who knew him. May he rest in peace. Serenity Funeral Home, Tel. (901)379-0861

My condolences to my brother n law. You was a great man always supported and encourage me 100 percent when i was growing up as a teenager and throughout my life whatever i did . you will be truly missed. May god bless you rest in peace Joe.
