Joseph Wood Obituary

Joseph Barber Wood, Sr. (Joe) passed away on Sunday, July 21st, 2024. He was born on April 1, 1938, in Tuscaloosa, AL, to Charlene (Swanzey) Wood and James Garland Wood. He was preceded in death by his brothers James Garland Wood, Jr. and Harold Wood, as well as his grandson, Andrew Bradley Wood. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Tish) Wood, daughter Courtney Wright and her husband Andy, and son Joby Wood and his wife Jennifer, and granddaughter Sarah Wood.

After growing up in Tuscaloosa and attending University of Alabama, Joe moved to Memphis in the mid 1960's. He worked in a variety of industries including home building, banking, and real estate.

A service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on August 2nd, 10:30 am, at Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church, 390 S. Yates Rd, Memphis, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the Wood family kindly requests that donations be made to the Andrew Bradley Wood Memorial Scholarship at the University of Kansas. Donations can be made directly at www.launchku.org/wood.

Tish, I am so very sorry over the passing of Joe. Though I haven´t seen him in many years I have very fond memories of the good times that we all had together. Please give my condolences to Joby and Courtney.
