TO MOTHER
I sit in my room and I muse tonight,
As my mind spins and wandering goes,
And I see long ago, in the years gone by,
The home that my memory knows.
The small little boy has stubbed his toe,
He has done this before, and now he has done it again;
But his mother just smiled, kissed him and bandaged his wound.
And somehow there’s no more pain.
She sits at his bedside and they say their prayers,
Something the she has taught him to say,
She turns out the light, and she tucks him in,
Don’t shut the door, he says and she quietly steals away.
So many nights she watched at his bedside,
While fears and tears and fevers burned on his brow,
The times and the prayers with the mother.
The memory’s all are coming back to him now,
And now the years have come and gone
And through them all the boy’s mother was near
To help him over so many roads that were hard and rough,
She was there to comfort and dry every tear.
Now the boy has grown to be a man.
And his mother is still faithfully looking on.
Still thinking of him , still praying for him
Though miles separate them from from this childhood home.
May he never forget the night’s she spent,
And the many years she travailed through,
All the plans she’s laid and the prayers she’s made,
That her little boy would ring true blue.
Now, she is gone, oh mother no song that the angels sing,
Will ever be too sweet a sound,
No praises, or honor too high for thee,
No stars too bright for your crown.
I love you momma

Lisa, David and family, I have so very much enjoyed knowing your Mom (and Grandmother) through our long time friendship. I have good memories of your Mom opening her home to so many of us friends to gather and hang out. True southern hospitality your mom had! Conversations with her were inspiring and always interesting. One smart lady. With her, you knew she loved the Lord, as she spoke it. With love and deep sympathy to you Lisa, David, and grandchildren.

I am so sorry we can no longer have those long conversations since I moved away. We had lots of fun looking for a new fish restaurant on Fridays. We went from the
high end places to the converted Service Stations serving at certain times! The fish
was good and the company better. Our visits were so fun telling about our past life
and secrets. No worry I have forgotten most and others will stay safe! I miss our
friendship although it evolved under strange circumstances we became the best of
friends. It was meant to be. I still get a chuckle at some of our stories. Martha, I love you and miss you. I will see you again and we will have new beautiful stories.

I have wonderful memories of you, Martha. We had some good times especially
looking for the next place to eat fish! We went from the high end to the Service
Stations when the served on certain nights. But it was always good. And the
company was always good. I still chuckle at our many conversations we had. I
learned about you and you me, our secrets, etc. No worry what I haven’t forgotten,
they are still safe with me. You were a good friend and I love you. We have to admit
we became good friends under strange circumstances but it couldn’t have turned
out better. I think it was meant to be. I wish I could call you and talk for hours.
I will see you again and maybe we can continue!

How I miss you so!! My phone is quiet , and has stopped ringing. The silence is deafening. I miss how you would say “This is your wicked stepmother”. Oh, how I would love to hear that again. If only we could have another lunch at Alexander’s and have a piece of carrot cake. My memories of you are everlasting. I love you
