Paul Navarra Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Fredrick Navarra, 77, of Carolina Beach, NC. Paul passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. His passing on the eve of his 78th birthday and the day after Christmas was a bittersweet reminder of a deeply cherished life.

Born in Memphis, TN, on December 27, 1946, Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. The beloved husband of Pamela Roberts Navarra, his soulmate and best friend for almost 54 years, they were affectionately described as "two peas in a pod." A constant source of love and support for his family, Paul was a dedicated father to his only son, John Navarra, a caring father-in-law to Ashley Navarra, and a proud grandfather to Reagan Navarra, with whom he shared a special bond of laughter and play.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Joseph Navarra and Lois Slater Navarra, as well as his infant brother, Joseph Anthony Navarra. He is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, John and wife, Ashley; his granddaughter, Reagan; his brother, Frank, and wife, Sally, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was a proud veteran having served honorably in the United States Coast Guard from 1967 to 1971. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Paul dedicated 37 years of service to his community as a firefighter, Captain, and Assistant Chief with the Carolina Beach Fire Department. He was also a licensed electrician, but for the past 28 years has worked at Bame Ace Hardware at Carolina Beach, where he was adored by his coworkers and customers for his kindness, reliability, generosity, and willingness to help others. Paul was multi-talented, a master of many skills, and a resourceful problem-solver.

Paul was a man of faith, character, and quiet strength. He never complained and embodied a calm demeanor, gentle spirit, and unwavering patience. Since first coming to the area in 1970, Paul was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He loved nature, fishing, and the beach, where he found peace and joy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Carolina Beach Presbyterian Church, 1209 N Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Bowling. A reception will follow at noon in the fellowship hall, with a burial service at 2:30 p.m.at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.

Will miss seeing him at the store and McDonald´s.

My husband told me to always ask for him at the hardware store.

Always had a great smile.

Condolences to his family.
