Wes Vance Obituary

Wes Vance was born in his grandfather's home in Marks, MS to E.Q. Vance, Jr., and Martha Jane (Cissye) Vance. He attended Marks Elementary School and Delta Academy High School. His summers were spent playing with his neighbors, the Yandells, and traveling on weekends to horse shows to watch his dad compete.

He graduated from Mississippi State University and went home afterward to farm with his father in Vance and Marks. During that time he and his dog, Shine, lived at Silent Shade, the lake his grandfather owned just east of Marks. Those were some of the happiest days of his life.

Having played the drums in the Marks High School band, this interest continued throughout his life, playing in blues and rock bands in Clarksdale, Memphis and later in Colorado. He was also an avid motorcyclist and rode dirt bikes from his teens throughout his life.

Wes also loved to snow ski. In the late 1980s he moved to Colorado to be closer to the slopes and with the exception of a seven-year stint in which he moved back home, Wes lived in Colorado the rest of his life.

His easy nature and likability provided him with many longtime friends in the area of Carbondale, Basalt, Glenwood Springs and the Frying Pan River.

Wes is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother E.Q. Vance III, his niece Corinne Vance Fikes and his aunt Val Vance Burgess.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
