Helen Aherne NORWOOD Helen (Stack) Aherne, of Norwood, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009. She was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Lawrence "Larry" Aherne, who died this past May; devoted mother of Eileen Muller and her husband, Gene, of Holliston, and Larry Aherne and his wife, Karen, of Cohasset; cherished Nana to Christopher, Ryan and Courtney Muller, and Sean and Danny Aherne; dear sister of Patricia Ditto and her husband, Eugene, of North Easton, and the late Robert, Thomas and Joseph Stack. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and Auntie "Honey" to Tess, Owen, Caroline and Julia. Helen was past president of St. Timothy's Women's Guild, where she also served as a eucharistic minister. She was a member of the Norwood Catholic Women's Club and the Norfolk County Council for Family and Community Education. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. Her energy, enthusiasm and good spirit filled many rooms and warmed many hearts. She loved life and will be missed by all. May they laugh together, reunited. Her funeral will take place from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rte. 1A), Norwood, Saturday, Jan. 31, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Friday, Jan. 30, 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
