Frances Nielsen Obituary
Frances Hart Nielsen, 90, of Athens passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at her residence. She was a native of Vicksburg, Miss., a longtime resident of McMinn County and was a daughter of the late William J. and Fannie Bliss Hart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Nielsen. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church of Athens. She was a nurse until her retirement. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kathi and Harold (Chuck) Jackson; two grandchildren and spouses, Kimberly and Dub Wigley and Jason and Heather Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Madyson Wigley and Sean Jackson. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Cedar Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Arwood officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home and will go in procession to the cemetery.
