Scott Lingerfelt, 48, of Athens passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Scott was born in Cleveland and was a resident of McMinn County all of his life. He worked for Heil Corporation for 29 years, and loved the outdoors and his family. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Ray Lingerfelt. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Autumn Long Lingerfelt of Athens; son, Cole Lingerfelt of Athens; mother, Bobbie Lingerfelt of Athens; sister, Teresa Lingerfelt of Athens; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Vickie Long of Ten Mile; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Travis and Christy Long of Sweetwater; niece, Darian Long; and nephew, Austin Long of Sweetwater. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn King and the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. The interment will be in McMinn Memory Gardens immediately following the service. The pallbearers will be Travis Long, Austin Long, Anthony Umphrey, Chris Umphrey, Tony Baker and Nick Baker. Honorary pallbearer will be Pete Dilbeck. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at the funeral home before the service.
