Ann Miffleton Obituary

Ann Loving Miffleton, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 16, 2023. Ann grew up in Newport News and attended Hilton Elementary School and Morrison High School. She went on to obtain her RN degree from Riverside School of Nursing and worked at the Newport News Shipbuilding Medical Clinic for 25 years before retiring.

Gardening was her passion and she always made sure to feed the many birds that enjoyed her beautiful yard.

Ann is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Miffleton and Linda Miffleton Powell (Bobby); granddaughters, Allison E. Tyrrell (John) and Lesley-Anne Spivey (Nick); great-grandchildren, Sadie Anne Camper, Case Cobbins, and Lea Camper; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Our family is grateful to all the wonderful neighbors and friends that have been so kind to her over the years.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

I had the pleasure of working with Ann at Riverside Convalescent and we became friends. She was always thinking of others by baking goodies on their birthdays. She made me a cake and put real pansies on it...my favorite flower. When she found out we were moving to Rocky Mount, NC, she told me she had a niece who lived there. After a few years, I had the pleasure of meeting Susan. My deepest sympathy to your family and I hope wonderful memories of her will bless you.

To JoAnn and Linda- The best daughters. You literally accompanied your beloved mother on her way to her peaceful passing into the arms of The Creator. I have never known such loving devotion, compassion and loyalty. Godspeed to Nurse Ann. She left this Earth under the gentle and watchful eyes of her daughters and other family members. God bless you both. Inspiring. May her memory be eternal.

Ms. Ann was a beloved neighbor to us. We enjoyed many porch and garden visits together. My daughters loved all the plants and flowers around her home, helping feed the birds and just soaking in the affection from the incredibly attentive, Ms. Ann. She was a fabulous neighbor and friend, and she will be missed greatly. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family as you reminisce on her wonderful 92 years!
