Darnell Sneed Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Staff Sgt. Darnell A. Sneed, U.S. Army, retired, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Mary Immaculate Hospital. He retired from the Army with 21 years of service, retired from the Newport News Shipyard, was a member of First Baptist Church-Denbigh, the Military Retirees Club and American Legion Post No. 368. Mr. Sneed was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Gladys Sneed. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Inell; three daughters, Joanne Christian (Patrick), Pamela Sneed-Smith (Jamotia), both of Newport News, Va., and Catherine Sneed of Annandale, Va.; a son, Henry Sneed (Rachel) of Williamsburg, Va.; five grandchildren; one sister, Catherine Williams (the Rev. Reuben Williams) of Bridgeport, Conn.; and a special cousin, Linda Polly (the Rev. Felix Polly) of Beckly, W.Va. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carter Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at First Baptist Denbigh with the Rev. Dorothy Harrison as officiant. A guestbook is available at www.legacy.com.
