David BOWKER Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - David Edwin Bowker, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011. He was born on April 19, 1928, in Richmond, Va.
He was retired from NASA/Langley Research Center where he had worked as a Geophysicist.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lily; brother, James Bowker of Richmond, Va.; four children, Fritz Bowker and his wife, Vicki of Williamsburg, Va., Molly Bowker of Williamsburg, Va., Tom Bowker and his wife, Karen of Chesterfield, Va., Joel Bowker and his wife, Nancy of Tualatin, Ore.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg.

One of a kind, played both frisbee and chess, a magnificent human being with a great sense of humor... I remember his driving (us) up to DC to participate in the Smithsonian museums... a trip I will never forget.

I couldn't have asked for a better father-in-law. This picture is how I remember him. He was always joking and had a wonderful dry sense of humor. He will remain always in my memory and prayers. I hope he is having fun with my Dad in heaven.
