David Custis Obituary

HAMPTON - David Eugene Custis, 56, was called home to rest Monday, July 9, 2007. He died suddenly as a result of a tragic car accident. David was born April 19, 1951, in Hampton, Va., and was a member of Gloria Church of Jesus. David graduated from Bethel High School in 1969, and retired from NASA Exchange Cafeteria after 28 years of employment. David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Custis and Maude Robinson, two sisters and one niece. Survivors include four sisters, Estelle McQueen (David), Edith Custis, Barbara Pankey and Shirley Robinson; five brothers, Clark Stonewall, Lloyd Custis (Cheryl), Joseph Custis Jr., Charles Custis (Carolyn), all of Hampton, and Andrew Custis (Valerie) of Winston-Salem, N.C.; many loving nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Viewing will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, at Gilmore's Funeral Home, 3314 Roanoke Ave., Newport News, Va. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Little Zion Baptist Church, 1824 W. Queen St., Hampton, Va., with Bishop JH Bowser officiating. Interment will follow at Little Zion Baptist Church.

We all loved David and may he with God.He was a very special uncle and we spent many good times together,you know it felt just like yesterday when we were just walking down the street to get a burger or Roses Department store.He will be missed very much by me,and i will always hold all the great times God gave us to spend together.

My family has known David since we we lived on Rowe St. in North Hampton with our grandparents and David visited very often.
