David and I spoke at length about his disease and the symptoms, problems and the remedies he used to lesson the affects of his disease on his on body. That became a useful dialogue to help me deal with my own, soon to be discovered Kennedy's Disease. For that I am grateful for the connection we made years ago sharing the same genetic disorder. I'm also grateful for the lessons that David personally gave me when I was a young boy which helped me excel in mathematics. David personally tutored me when I was 7-8 years old and helped me move to the top of my class and have a great interest in math. My Uncle David was a kind soul, may he rest in peace.

I've known Dave for most of my life. I learned a lot from him and will always remember him for his kindness and intense generosity. To me, he epitomized the word dignity.

Mr. Mefferd was my counselor at PHS. So very nice and helpful. Assisted me with gaining admission to college in NC. I requested him because all my siblings said he really cared about his students. May he RIP

I knew him as a colleague and friend. I could talk to him about anything from chihuahuas to home repair advice. He was such a kind man and a real fighter. He welcomed anyone who entered guidance with a smile and open arms. And he always had an ear, ready to listen.

I was student at Phoebus, Mr. Mefferd was the counselor all students wanted to see. He cared for all. I was fortunate to return to Phoebus to work in the Guidance Dept. with Dave. He was an amazing person who touched the hearts of so many. Rest in Peace Dave.

Dave was my grandfather we called him Papa. No matter how much pain he was in he still would show up on Christmas laughing and happy. He is a gentle soul who is finally able to be at peace. Thank You for showing your true strength. I love you!

In loving memory of a wonderful person, my step-dad. Dave has suffered for many many years and it was time for him to be able to rest in peace and no longer struggle daily to walk or eat and to do all the little things we all take advantage of everyday. Dave was once so active and full of life teaching me as the young tomboy I was to play basketball, ride a skateboard and to play songs on his organ repeatedly until I drove everyone in the house crazy. I hope Dave is up there shooting hoops, riding a skateboard and playing his organ again. Thank you for the memories. We will love you and miss you always. Angel
