Debbie D'Agostino Obituary

TOANO - Debbie D'Agostino, 51, passed away on July 22, 2009, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of the Tidewater area, Debbie was a graduate of Menchville High School, Class of '76, and Thomas Nelson Community College. She recently retired from Eastern State Hospital after 30 years of service.
Debbie was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. D'Agostino Jr.; daughter, Lauren D'Agostino; two sisters, Carolyn Stagemeyer and her husband, Dave, Kim Austin and her husband, Russell; two brothers, Keith Barnes, Kevin Barnes and wife, Leigh; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Troy A. and Becky D'Agostino; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Louise D'Agostino; and six nieces, Stacy Miller and her husband, Kent, Ashley Johnson, Claire D'Agostino, Audrey D'Agostino, Sophia D'Agostino, and Julia Barnes.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Leslie Marie D'Agostino; brother, Doug Barnes; father, Harold Batten; mother, Margaret Barnes; and stepfather, Robert Barnes.
Debbie led a rich life with family, friends, and community. She actively volunteered at Warhill High School, and was a leader with the local Girl Scout troop. She enjoyed camping, vacations to the beach, and shopping. At home, Debbie loved to cook and entertain at big backyard events that have become a focal point for our family and friends to meet and enjoy each others' company. Relaxing at home, Debbie enjoyed feeding the birds and looking after Louie, the family Jack Russell. Debbie's warm heart, peaceful demeanor, and quiet strength were an inspiration, and will be missed by us all.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at www.ovarian.org.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Robert,

I was just informed today of Debbie's passing. I have known her and her family since 1968 and always felt very close to them even though we had lost touch over the years. She was a very kind and generous person and she always had such an infectious smile on her face. I am deeply sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Lauren and all of the family.
