Ernest Stringfield Obituary

WAKEFIELD, VA - On Thursday, June 2, 2016, in the early hours of the morning, God saw fit to call our beloved father, father-in-law, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, Ernest James Stringfield, home to rest. Ernest James Stringfield was born February 13, 1943 in Wakefield, VA to the late Robert Stringfield (October 1999) and Edith Mae Stringfield (August 2006). He was educated in Sussex County Public Schools. He worked an assortment of jobs before settling with Brown and William Tobacco Company in Petersburg, VA for thirteen years. He worked a short stint at Georgia Pacific Lumber Company in Wakefield, VA. Finally, he finished his career with Sussex County Public Schools. In his spare time, Ernest James enjoyed hunting, fishing and maintaining lawns for is neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Stringfield (Thelma), and his son Ernest Stringfield Jr. Cherishing great memories are his devoted: children, Eric Stringfield (Faye) of Suffolk, VA and Edwin "TJ" Stringfield (Ron) of Key West, FL; granddaughter, Ravynn Stringfield of Suffolk, VA; five brothers, James R. Stringfield Jr. (Mary), John A. Stringfield (Cheryl), Timothy Stringfield (Jean), Samuel Stringfield (Yvonne); Freddie A. Stringfield (Sandra); one sister, Gloria Holoman (Alton-deceased); special friends and family, Norma Turner, Pamela and Junie Ruffin, and their two darling children, Jaya and Jamie. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral Services for Mr. Ernest J. Stringfield will be 12:00pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Mars Hill AME Zion Church, 401 E. Main Street, Wakefield, VA, Rev. Zollicoffer, Pastor. Interment will follow at Booker T. Memorial Park, Wakefield, VA.
