Gertrud Maria Morris

1930 - 2015

NEWPORT NEWS - Gertrud Maria Pazold Morris passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 2, 2015. Her family was the center of her life as she was the center of theirs. She was the most generous, loving, energetic person who had a strong passion for life. She was born in Berlin Germany on Nov. 18, 1930. As a young girl she was a talented acrobat who entertained the German troops and after war the American troops. During this time a young American soldier caught her eye and this was how she met the love of her life Harry G. Morris. The love they shared for sixty four wonderful years was inspirational. Gerty, which was her preferred name, loved taking care of her home and family. Her passions included cooking, gardening, attending her grandsons' concerts and traveling to New York City with her daughters where they attended numerous plays. Additionally she enjoyed many years at her second home on the Croatan Sound in Manns Harbor NC. She was preceded in death by her brother Hans Pazold. She is survived by her husband Harry G. Morris, son Steve G. Morris, daughters Dee Morris-Fogle and Andrea Morris-Mann and her husband Robert who was like a son to her. Grandchildren include Brandon and Ryan Newson and his wife Tracy, Ashton and Tristan Morris-Mann and great grandson Colby Newsom. A celebration of life and reception will be held on Monday Nov. 16 at 2:00pm at Hidenwood Presbyterian Church, 414 Hiden Blvd, Newport News VA.
