Harry Stone Obituary

HAYES - Tech. Sgt. Harry Stone Jr. (retired), 83, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002. Mr. Stone was a native of Chagrin, Ohio, and a former Peninsula resident before moving to Hayes in 1982. He retired in 1970 as a Tech. Sgt. with 24 years of service and survived three wars, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. After retirement he worked for the City of Hampton for 11 years and retired in 1981 as an Air Conditioning Engineer. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed making wood furniture in his wood working shop. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Huguette R. Stone; his daughters, Patricia Evenas and her husband, Yannick, of Gloucester, Marie Hagler of Gloucester, Sheri L. Stone of Newport News, and Michelle E. Bryhn and her husband, David, of Williamsburg; a son, Lee Morton Stone of Hayes; a sister, Peg Maytas of Mentor, Ohio, and a brother Robert Stone of Crosby, Miss.; son-in-law, Stephen Platt of Hayes; his brother-in-law, Charlie Barbarossa and his wife, Joan, of Hampton; four grandchildren, Christine, Jessica, Luke, and Joshua. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, in Langley Air Force Base Chapel by Father Leo Moenkedick. Burial will follow with full military honors in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. Memorials may be made to Mercy Med Flight 200 Texas Way, Hanger 23N, Fort Worth, TX 76106-2782.
