Jim was our next door neighbor and friend for over 12 years and I was with him and his family when he passed away. Jim was like a father to my husband John and me. We shared many an evening chatting and sipping a cocktail together with him and Barbara. Before he got his precious "Mimi-girl" he was a surrogate father to our sheltie Cosmo - taking him all over town with him. We will miss him more than words can say.

I had the pleasure of serving with Capt. Mauldin on board the Eisenhower.
He was my first C.O. (1979-1983) He was
a fine officer and a credit to the Navy. We need more men of his caliber.
He is now on his final patrol with friends and loved ones. We can look forward to sailing with him once more.
God bless you and your family and my
blessing on your loss.

Jim was a delightful person and a wonderful friend. We had some great times together....I truly loved him. And I love his wife, Barbara and am sad for her. However, Jim is now at peace after a long struggle. He deserves that peace. My thoughts continue to be with Barbara.

I am sure Captain Mauldin is up there with my Dad, Charlie Covington, sharing stories. My Father always said Jim was his best friend. I am sorry for your loss, Barbara and for little Mimi too. May God ease your burdens.

I met Jim when he came to Newport News Shipbuilding for his 2nd career. He was my manager when I was a Const. Supt. in the Submarine Ovhl program. I always enjoyed his humor and sometimes having a hot beer with him after work. I also worked with Barbara, his wife before they were married. My condolences go out to his family

I knew Jim during his second career at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a consummate professional but always stood ready with humor that lightened the mood of everyone in his midst. It was a true pleasure to have known and worked with Jim and I shall always recall him with fondness.
My sincere condolences to Jim's family.
