John Raymond Kozak

Yorktown - John R. Kozak passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023, at the age of 64. He passed at his residence in the presence of his sister and best friend, Kathy. He was preceded in death by his father, Norton Kozak and survived by his mother, Joan Taylor, his two daughters Kristina Ogburn and Kaitlin Gibson, his siblings Kathy Campbell (Danny), Scott Kozak (Amanda), Sharon Dempsey and Mary Hansen as well as two grandchildren Harley Ogburn and Brayden Meade and many nieces and nephews.

John was born in NewYork and was a long time resident of Yorktown VA. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and Giants. He had a unique blend of business talents which enabled him to be a very successful entrepreneur, opening up the very first chain of popular Tanning and Limousine services on the Peninsula, and owned and operated multiple successful salvage yards as well.

John lived his life to the fullest. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and his friends. He loved to travel, especially on cruises and to sunny destinations! He loved all water sports including boating and skiing, thou those that knew him best knew he had his life jacket secured tightly at all times as he was actually terrified of the water and never learned to swim!

John, like his father, battled Huntington's Disease for many years and thou some new medical treatments are coming along, there is much help needed for many other families. This organization assisted with medication trials that gave John a better quality of life for many more days than those who's battles preceded his, and for that we are forever grateful. We are honoring John's request for no public service. Instead it was his desire for his immediate family to celebrate his life.
