So sorry to hear about "Uncle Newtie" passing. I tried to make the visitation but was sick with a severe cold. I was married to Uncle Newtie's sister Betty's middle son, Bobby. We both were very fond of both Newtie and Aunt Florance. I still have the wedding they gave us. I also worked near Newtie when I was at the Daily Press in the late 60's. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I know that he went by Joe in more recent years & preferred Newt over Newtie, but to my family & most of the other nieces & nephews we always knew him as Uncle Newtie. I was always welcome in his & Aunt Florence's home, no matter which of my 2 wives I had with me or when I was alone. I remember many back yard cook outs with Uncle Newt, Aunt Florence, & our families when I lived in Virginia from 1961 to 1968. He was always my favorite Uncle & I will truly miss him.

I very sorry to hear about Uncle Newtie death, he lived a long time. I am sorry it has been so many years, I guess it is easy to lose touch with family. Please tell all the family that I am thinking of them.

Highlights of vacations to VA always included visiting Uncle "Newtie" and Aunt Florence. I will cherish those memories forever.
