Nancy Kelly Obituary

Mrs. Nancy Lee Kelly (Nana and Mom Kelly) passed away peacefully at her home on October 23, 2021. Nancy was born on April 22, 1939 and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage to her late groom, John E. Kelly, Jr.

Nancy is survived by her two sons Todd (Renee) and Mark, three grandchildren, Clarke, Todd, Jr., and Khia, along with many spiritual sons, daughters, and grandchildren as well as special nieces and nephews.

Nancy leaves a legacy of giving and teaching as an example for others. To know Nana was to know the heart of a saint. She was always willing to sacrifice for others while demonstrating unending love for her family, friends, and students.

A special thank you to her devoted caregivers that served selflessly during her illness.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate the lives of John and Nancy Kelly on Saturday, November 20th at 11 a.m. at New Life Church located at 1525 Power Plant Parkway in Hampton, VA.

Another year has passed and we once again must live it with you in our memory: our babygirl and her husband are expecting a babygirl on Christmas. Steve and I know that you would be so excited if you were here! It is these kinds of events that make us miss you so much. We know that you are up in heaven still smiling down on us with your caring heart. Sure wish that you were here!!!

I know I am supper late but my family and I use to live on Rendon drive where Mr. and Mrs. Kelley lived across from us. We moved due to military but we rode passed their home today to see it was for sale. Immediately I felt that they were not with us anymore and when I searched I found this. My sincere condolences to the Kelley family. They were always so sweet to us as we were a young couple buying our first home across from them. May they truly rest on now. In Jesus Christ!!

To The Kelly Family: I am certainly going to miss Sister Nancy and Brother John at the church. I am so used to seeing them every Sunday. They were a great inspiration to me. Every Sunday I look over to where they used to sit, I will always remember them. I am glad that God allowed them to sow into my life at New Life Church. Rest on from your labors. You are forever in my heart. Family, I will keep you in my prayers. Feel the peace and comfort of God's arms around you. He is there for you.

I will miss two precious cousins, Nancy and John Kelly, who shared their lives and beautiful home with my sister and me when we were growing up. Even after leaving the nest, Nancy and John remained in our lives, visiting me when I moved out of state and supporting my efforts in major life events. Their presence will be sorely missed but their kind, loving spirits will always hold a very special place in my heart. May God continue to bless their precious souls!!!

I am sending deepest condolences to family and friends of Nancy and John Kelly. Having lived with them for a number of years I knew them well. There are so many precious memories. Their lives were truly a dedicated mission to helping others. Nancy often sang solos at our First Baptist Church, she had the voice of an angel. She took me to the first Jazz Festival at Hampton Institute featuring Dionne Warwick. They would take my sister and me to Connecticut with them. They took us to ball games to watch John play baseball. Also to drive in movies, to see the Harlem Globetrotters, and so much more. So many precious memories from so long ago. I will never forget the kindness they showed my sister and me. Rest
in peace, dear Cousins of mine.

It is with a sadden heart that I offer this condolence to the Kelly family & friends. Nancy will be greatly missed for her leadership, caring and sharing through these many years since our graduation from George P. Phenix High School in 1957. It was a privilege to serve with her our High School committee where she provided impeccable leadership. A Saint indeed has slipped away. May God bless you. You have my prayers. Hazel Gilchrist King
