I have been working with Epes for over five years now and although I never personally met his father, I know he was a special man just because of the type of person his son Epes is. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in your time of need.

I first met Richard at Christopher Newport many years ago. Quiet, unassuming, with a wry sense of humor, and always a gentle man, Richard was one of my favorite professors/administrators at the University.

Eternal rest give unto him. May he rest in peace.

My dad and I met Mr. McMurran on a Friday afternoon at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was there for Dialysis. My mom began Dialysis there back in Nov of 05 and she had to have SX that day and then herself come in for treatment. He was in the little waiting area of the dialysis unit waiting for his ride home. My Dad and I found him to be a very nice man and had a nice conversation with him while we waited to go back to see my Mom. He told us about being a patient for 21 years and that he had done the treatment at home and all that he had gone through. We were so sorry to hear about him being in the hospital, each time my mom had treatment, we would ask the nurses if they had heard anything about how he was doing. We were so sorry to hear about his passing and want his family to know that it was a true pleasure meeting him that day. You are in our prayers.

I remember Richard with fondness. We were both members of the NNHS class of 1945. Warm, gentlemanly, he was one of the nicest persons I have known. We spent a summer working at Orkney Springs. I am glad that I was able to reach him by phone a few months ago. Rest in peace, Richard.

I send my condolences to your wife and your sister.
