Roger Goldston Hayes

BOONE, N.C. - Roger Goldston Hayes, 90, of Boone, N.C., and a resident of Hampton, Va., for 40 years, died Wednesday at the Blowing Rock Hospital. Mr. Hayes retired as an electrician from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. in Newport News. Surviving are one son, Roger Donald Hayes and wife, Verna, of Zuni, Va.; two daughters, Mary Sommer of Warrenton, Va., and Jeanette Watson of Akron, Ohio; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Carolyn Farthing and husband, Cecil, and Clara Baird, all of Boone, Nina Banner of Sugar Grove and Josephine Herman of Adrian, Mich.; and four brothers, Dwight Hayes and wife, Dixie Mae, and Tom Hayes and wife, Grace, all of Vilas, and Dale Hayes and wife, Betty, and Raymond Hayes and wife, Lois, all of Boone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Culler Hayes; one brother, Eugene Hayes; and a grandson, Michael Sommer. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Vilas, N.C. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
