Susan Wetzel Obituary

Susan (Lindquist) Wetzel, 65, of Effingham, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008. A memorial service will be held in Rockford in early 2009. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the global leader of the breast cancer movement, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, attn: Gift Management Services, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244 or online at komen.org. Contributions also may be made to Effingham County Humane Society, 53 Village Square Mall, Effingham, IL 62401. Sue was born in Rockford and married her high school boyfriend and soulmate, Jim, several years after graduating from West High School. In December, they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Together they raised two daughters, Carolyn and Deanna, which prepared her well for the eventual arrival of four granddaughters. During her many years in Rockford, she was a homemaker, who also enjoyed painting and reading in her free time. In 2006, Sue and Jim moved to Effingham, where she realized her dream of retiring at her home on Lake Sara. She spent her last few years there, enjoying the lake view, boating, gardening and the companionship of good friends and family. In addition to her two daughters, she is survived by her sons-in-law, Andy Didier and Walter Woodrick and four granddaughters, Katie and Jessica Woodrick and Amanda and Stephanie Didier.

Deanna, Carolyn, Jim & Family

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was a very sweet lady with a wonderful, positive attitude.

"May her voice still whisper to you in times of need and her strength and spirit live on in you. May her soul dance with the wind and she smile forever as she is loving you from above."

My deepest sympathy for Sue's passing. My happy memories of her include our "mystery trip" and fish fry at a rural lake, on a wonderful Fall evening. Thoughts and prayers are will all the family. Vi Schultz

You have our deepest sympathy with the loss of your Mother. Moms are hard to give up to the Lord but think of her as your guardian now.
You are in our prayers.

Jim, Carolyn and Deanna,

I am so sorry to hear about Sue. I hope that she went peacefully. I just want you to know that I will always remember that laugh of hers. It makes me smile just thinking about it. You were all a very important part of my childhood, and I have many happy memories of you...our next door neighbors for all those years. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Susan was a wonderful woman and wife to her husband Jim. Although I knew Jim much better than Susan I was aware of the special relationship they had. All my prayers for Susan and my best wishes to Jim.
