William Firman Obituary
He was born February 6, 1941 to William Moody and Pauline Wainwright Firman and died July 14, 2021 at Sentara Careplex Hospital.
He graduated from Poquoson High School in 1958 and was also a graduate of the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School. He married Patricia Messick on June 10, 1961 and they just recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He worked for over 40 years for Newport News Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Naval Station Norfolk. Fay selflessly served the Lord in many capacities at both Emmaus Baptist Church and Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Nathan Spencer Roberts and very close friend Billy Moore. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Messick Firman; brother Dennis M. Firman and his wife Patty; daughter Leslie Firman Roberts and her husband Keith; son Wesley Randall Firman and his wife Chantel; grandchildren Aaron Moody Roberts and his wife Holly, Hannah Faye Roberts Whitaker and her husband Mason and Joshua Wesley Firman; great grandchildren Princeton James French and Addison Hope Roberts. He is also survived by his very special dog Fletcher and numerous friends and family.
Visitation will be Friday evening at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
He loved God, family, friends and the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations to Tabernacle United Methodist Church and Emmaus Baptist Church would be appreciated.
