James Anderson Obituary

James (Jim) Anderson, 95, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at the Memorial Convalescent Center in Adel. He was born on Jan. 28, 1914, in Lowndes County to the late Bill and Kate Slate Anderson. Mr. Anderson was retired from Strickland Cotton Mills and was a member of New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Hahira. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Charles Rowe of Nashville; one son, James William (Billy) Anderson of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Wendy Hopkins, Becky Dasher and her husband, Walt, Kim Anderson, Randy Anderson and his wife, Deborah; two great-grandchildren, Bobby Hopkins and Stepheney Davis; three great-great grandchildren, Tommy Davis, Randy Anderson and Joey Anderson; one sister, Lois Fountain of Tampa; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Watley Anderson on July 2, 1988, and his second wife, Choma Lastinger Anderson, on Dec. 10, 2007. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. I was very sorry to hear about Mr Andersons passing, He was a kind and gentle man and very good to me, I will never forget him ,we all could have taken lessons from him. I am praying for the family, God bless you all. x daughter-in-law, Lynn
