Alvin A. Wisco Alvin A. Wisco died on Sunday, September, 21, 2014, at the age of 92 years old. He was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Emma Wisco of Platteville, Wisconsin; his brothers, Harold and Ralph; and his wife, Janine, who died in 2010. Their surviving children are a son, Eric married to Aysim who live in Greensboro, North Carolina; and a daughter, Sandy of Charlottesville, Virginia. Al is an Army veteran who served in Rouen France during the American occupation where he met Janine. They married in France and made a home together in the United States. Al was a metallurgical engineer working with tungsten filament for lamps. He was a boy scout leader, an active Christian in Lutheran traditions for many years. The only time he cooked was when the family went camping and then he was responsible for breakfast. Most other meals he enjoyed were prepared by Janine who was a gourmet. Al leaves behind many friends in New Jersey, South Carolina, and new friends at The Lodge at Old Trail in Crozet where he lived his final year. Al was proud of his children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in his memory to Habitat for Humanity, 919 West Main St., Charlottesville, VA 22903 (cvillehabitat.org); or Meals on Wheels, 704 Rose Hill Dr., Charlottesville, VA 22903 (cvillemeals.org). These were two organizations in which he volunteered for many years in South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church (ELCA) located at 100 Alderman Road, Charlottesville VA 22903, on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 4 p.m. Visitation with the family follows the service. His ashes will be interred at the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, Wisconsin.
