Robert "Wayne" Wisco, 90, of Dubuque, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
To honor Wayne's wishes, a private family service has been held.
Wayne was born on March 13, 1933, to Robert Koster Wisco and Roberta Harvey Wisco, in Hazel Green, WI, in the family farm house where his mother was also born. Wayne graduated from Rosiclare High School in Rosiclare, IL, in 1951, then continued his education in Platteville, WI, before enlisting in the Army in 1952. Wayne was stationed in Alaska and narrowly missed deployment during the Korean war. In 1954, he was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to his Midwest roots where he met his future wife and life partner, Alberta Witterholt. Wayne and Alberta married May 2, 1956, and remained together until her passing on December 2, 2014.
Wayne had many interests in life but loved the outdoors immensely. He was an avid fisherman and competed in countless bass tournaments, which he often times would win. He loved hunting, especially goose hunting, and never missed a season sitting in the blind with his buddies, sons and grandsons, waiting for the Great Goose to pass overhead. In his younger years, Wayne was very adventurous, maybe even a little bit wild, and those experiences provided him with endless stories to tell. In his senior years, he enjoyed driving around looking for any and all wild life, walks in nature or by the river, feeding his birds and critters in his backyard and snuggling with his beloved PurrKitty. When Wayne wasn't out and about, he enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, euchre and buck. He was a challenging opponent and couldn't pass up an opportunity to skunk, set or poke fun at his loved ones, especially his daughter-in-laws.
Alberta and Wayne had seven children; Chad (Angela) Wisco, Cary Wisco, Carl (Kathy) Wisco, Cass (Lorrie) Wisco, Shannon (Julie) Wisco, Kip (Amy) Wisco and Tracy (Jeff) Leibold and was blessed with 17 loving grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his oldest son Chad and many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ahva Assisted Living, Stonehill, Chris W. with Hospice of Dubuque and Chaplin Claudia for their care of Wayne in his final chapter of this life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road, and will be donated by the family at a later date.

My Cousin Wayne was a great fisherman and father He and Roberta always had time for a visit with me when I would drop in unannounced many years ago. He always put flowers on his parents graves and because I loved them to, I would do so too. My health hasn´t permitted me to keep in touch but Wayne you were not forgotten! Rest in peace. Love you always. Dorothy Harvey Rasque Onalaska, Wi
