Arthur Louis Caparn Jr. Arthur Louis Caparn Jr., 83, of Charlottesville, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born in Irvington, New Jersey, on June 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Arthur Louis Caparn Sr. and Florence Davis Caparn. Also predeceasing him are a brother, Fredrick Caparn; and a sister, Florence Caparn Cottrell. Arthur served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean War. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley F. Caparn; a daughter, Carol Anne Caparn Soderlund and her husband, Kirk; and a brother, Charles Edward Caparn. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Culpeper National Cemetery with Chaplain Ellis officiating. A viewing and visitation will be held on Monday evening, April 28, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hill and Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517,Topeka, KS 66675. Friends may send condolences to his family at www.hillandwood.com.
