Scott Allen Caparn, age 61, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and daughters, on December 2, 2025, after a two-year battle with ALS. Born on June 24, 1964, in Kingston, New York, Scott was the beloved son of Fred and Eloise Caparn.
Scott lived a life marked by kindness, faith, humor, and integrity. He found joy in his family, camping in the mountains, flying his remote-control airplanes, and working on cars. He was known for his strong work ethic, his ability to fix almost anything, his love of cars, planes, and bears, and his simple pleasures-like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, ice cream, and his dog, Sydney.
He despised the heat and dreamed of living somewhere with all four seasons-but chose the stability for his family that his job in Arizona provided. His hard work and dedication to providing for his family was evident in everything he did. Scott was always there for his family and friends, helping others no matter how busy he was. He was, without a doubt, an extraordinary husband, dad, son, uncle, and friend. To know him was to love him.
He married Barbara Sandoval on May 2, 1992, and together they shared 33 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion to family. Scott is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters, Tiffany, Amanda, and Sammie; his grandchildren, Justice, Austin, Molly, Robert, Bella, Silas, Gracie, Chelsea, and Fabian; his sisters, Danielle and Nicole; and his mother, Eloise. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Scott may not have been able to move north as he had dreamed-but he made sure his final resting place wouldn't be in the desert heat. A private burial ceremony will be held in Show Low on January 5, 2026, for the family to say their farewells. Everyone else is welcome to join the family for a Celebration of Life on January 9, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Sun Valley Community Church, with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ALS Arizona or Team Gleason in Scott's honor.
Scott's life was a testament to love, compassion, faith, and perseverance. His talk always matched his walk. He was a papa bear and a protector of his family, with one of the softest, kindest hearts. Though deeply missed, his legacy of kindness and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever." - Psalm 23:6
