Marcus Norton Barbour Marcus Norton Barbour, 92, of the Colonnades of Charlottesville, died on Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was born on November 9, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Victor D. and Marguerite Wilson Barbour. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Kathryn Allam Barbour, who passed away in November of 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Marcia Barbour Buss and her husband, David, and their daughters, Alexandra and Francesca of Oakton, Virginia, and Leslie Barbour Dahn and her husband, Robert, and their daughters, Christina and Meredith of New Albany, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Barbour Kern of Perrysburg, Ohio. He received a BS Degree in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University. Mr. Barbour served in the 9th Armored Division in Europe during World War II as a surgical technician. He was employed in Toledo as Employment Supervisor for Toledo Edison and later as Administrative Assistant for the Toledo Blue Cross / Blue Shield Plan. Moving to Rochester, New York, he was Staff Director for the Industrial Department of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce. While there he was secretary for the Small Business Council of Rochester. Mr. Barbour was active in the Brighton, New York Rotary Club and became President in 1959. He later moved to Charlottesville, where he lived with Mrs. Barbour at Colthurst Farm, Ednam, and the Colonnades. He became secretary of The Albemarle County Rotary Club and became a Paul Harris Fellow and Honorary Member of the Club. He also served on the United Way campaign in Charlottesville. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 3 p.m. with the Reverend Kimberleigh E. Wells officiating. Interment will be private.
