Bruce A. Lefebvre passed away on April 10, 2016 after a long battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma. He was born on September 30, 1954 in Santa Monica, Calif. to the late George L. Lefebvre and Margaret G. (Britton) Lefebvre. In 1965, Bruce and his family relocated to Andover, Mass. He attended the Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational Technical High School in West Andover, Mass., where he was very active in sports and graduated in 1972 with a major in Commercial Art.Bruce entered the United States Coast Guard in 1973, and after a brief assignment at a small boat search and rescue station in East Tawas, Mich., he was assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter "Eagle" a 295' tall ship, which was stationed at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. He was honorably discharged in 1977.He married his high school sweetheart, Judi E. (O'Brien) on June 28, 1974. Bruce and Judi welcomed their first child, Jodi D. in 1975 and their second child Meredith R. in 1978. Bruce worked at the IRS in Andover, Mass. fo a couple of years and in 1979 started to work for the United States Postal Service in Woburn, Mass. In 1989, Bruce accepted a promotion and relocated his family to Charlottesville, Va. He retired from the postal service in 2009 after 37 years of federal service and decided to make central Virginia their home upon his retirement.He is survived by his wife of 40+years, Judi E. (O'Brien) Lefebvre of Barboursville, Va.; two daughters, Jodi D. (Lefebvre) Jackson and her husband, A.J. of Palmyra, Va.; four grandchildren, Darius, Ashley, Dominic, and Cydney; two great-grandchildren, also, Meredith R. (Lefebvre) Smith of Henrico, Va.; and four grandchildren, Casey, Mariah, Lauren, and Gabriel, and one great-grandchild. He also leaves a sister, Lisa D. (Lefebvre) Brennan and her husband, Tim of New Hampshire; two brothers, Glenn F. Lefebvre and his wife, Karen of Oklahoma, and Mark R. Lefebvre and his wife, Karen of Florida, along with numerous nieces and nephews.A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday April 16, 2016 at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Va. for family and friends to share memories and celebrate Bruce's life.The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
