Cora Ladd Obituary

Mrs. Cora Lee Hawley Ladd, "Dolly", 84, of Keswick, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in a local hospital.

Born on Dec. 25, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Fleming Edward Hawley and Pearl Mitchell Hawley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cary T. Ladd Sr.; a sister, Laura F. Breeden; and two brothers, Robert E. Hawley and Fleming S. "Pete" Hawley.

She is survived by her son, Cary T. Ladd Jr. of Keswick; a sister, Dora West of Charlottesville; long time friend and sister-in-law, Frances L. Willis and her husband, Norman, of Keswick; a brother-in-law, Hope Ladd and his wife, Alice, of Troy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa, Va. for over 50 years.

"Dolly" will be remembered for her kind heart, love of animals, wildflowers, bluegrass music, and playing the card game "setback".

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, in the Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, Cismont, with the Rev. Julie Norton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 160, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

Hill & Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cary Jr. and Family Dolly will be greatly missed. I remember all the good times she had playing cards with my parents. She is in heaven now with all that went on before. I know she will be missed by all she has left behind but now she is not sick anymore. Love Marietta
