Edwin "Ed" H. Schroeder Jr.

Edwin "Ed" H. Schroeder Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

Ed was a longtime resident of Stanardsville, Virginia, where he enjoyed fishing, visiting with family and friends on the porch and serving his beloved church and community. Ed served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and had a successful career in the water treatment business that spanned over 50 years. He had the biggest heart, the most childlike spirit and the most contagious laugh. Ed was born and raised in Brenham, Texas and earned a scholarship to Baylor University where he excelled in track and field and graduated with a BBA degree. Ed loved all things sports, playing dominoes and Blue Bell ice cream. He was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan and a true Texan at heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his 3 sisters and his beloved daughter, Jennifer. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda; his 3 children, Brian (Paula), Susan (Steve), and Jon (Mary), 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Allen and family and many extended family and friends.

Ed had a servant's heart and served unconditionally. He taught us that although we may stumble, we can always get up and keep going. Ed chose to focus on the ways the Lord had blessed him and never lost heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Westover United Methodist Church, Ruckersville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Ed's memory to a charity of choice. Specials thanks to angel caregivers at Medi Hospice for all their loving care.
