George Raynor Obituary

George Cook Raynor

May 14, 2004 - January 12, 2026

George Cook Raynor died on January 12, 2026, at the age of 21.

George leaves behind a hole that can never be filled. George had a generous, open nature that endeared him to everyone around him. Regardless of any personal struggles he faced, he unfailingly met others with a bountiful spirit and a friendly, easy manner. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying and working on drones, and spending time with his family on countless hikes, picnics, and holiday gatherings. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews, with whom he spent many hours trading Magic cards, playing strategy games, and having swordfights.

George attended Western Albemarle and then Covenant High School, where he swam and ran cross-country and track. He also took classes at Auburn University and Randolph-Macon College, studying infectious pathology, before returning to Charlottesville and starting work with his dad at his dad's law firm. George was also a longtime employee of Old Albemarle Surveying, where he served as a land surveyor for his good friend Andy Graff.

George was exceptionally close to his family. He is survived by his adoring and devoted parents, Steve and Chloe Raynor of Charlottesville, Va., as well as his three older siblings and their families, Austin Raynor and his wife, Adrienne, along with their children Rex, Sadie, Wyatt, and Ava; Sean Raynor and his wife, Anastasia; and Natalie John and her husband, Matthias, along with their children Mae and Edie. He is also survived by two grandmothers, Eleanor Elliott and Shirley Raynor, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on January 17, 2026, at 3 p.m., followed by burial, both at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Greenwood, Va.

Dear Steve and Chloe - To say that I'm heartbroken for your loss does not seem nearly enough to acknowledge the deep pain and sadness of George's passing. Steve has always been a steadfast and supportive friend and colleague of mine Now I'm sending that support and unceasing prayers back your way. God bless and keep you
all.
