Gertrude Quinn Obituary
November 7, 1929 - September 29, 2025
Gertrude DiBlasi Quinn, 96 years old, beloved wife of John Robert Quinn (deceased), died in the evening of Monday, September 29, 2025 in her room at Martha Jefferson House in Charlottesville, Va.
She was born in Waterbury, Conn. on November 11,1929. One of six children, she is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony DiBlasi and Helen Merenda DiBlasi; her three brothers, Toddy, Joseph, and Clarence; and her sister Eleanor Clukey. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Wooding of Florida and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Gertrude received a Bachelors Degree in Education from Rhode Island Teachers College and a Masters Degree from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. She taught Biology and related sciences to High School students for many years in Connecticut and Long Island, New York.
To mourn her passing Gertrude leaves behind her very special friends, Brad and Daniel Wilcox and their nine children and Colonial John Gregory and his wife Yali Gregory and her godson, John-John Gregory as well as her many friends at Martha Jefferson House and at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish and Bob Quinn's nephews, Mike, Bob, and Joe who visited her faithfully and always made her laugh.
Special thanks are offered to all of the staff and employees of Martha Jefferson House who were unfailingly kind to Gertrude. She loved them, especially nurse Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered for Gertrude on Monday, October 6, 2025 at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish, 401 Alderman Road, Charlottesville. A reception will follow the Mass in the Church Hall. Burial will take place at Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, VA.
In lieu of flowers Gert asked for Masses, Enrollment cards and prayers for the deceased.
