Lenora Virginia Schoonover Hall Madison Loses a Neighbor Longtime Madison County resident Lenora Virginia Schoonover Hall went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 7, 1935, in West Virginia, to Bob and Pearl Schoonover. She was the youngest of six sisters, her family moved to Orange, Virginia, when she was 5, and graduated from Orange County High School. She married the love of her life, William Hall on May 21, 1960. She was a fiercely devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Virginia loved music and drama. She produced and starred in local theatre in her twenties. She was part of a semiprofessional group in the 60s called the LBJs that opened for Tex Ritter and sang on the radio. As Virginia settled into her family years, she sang with numerous trios at local events. She performed for children and local organizations with her comedic skits. She entertained and taught the children of Criglersville, over two decades in the classroom as well as their weekly hootenannies and annual talent shows. After retiring, she devoted time to her grandchildren, volunteering with programs such as Breakfast Buddies, Literacy council, Senior Center as well as her prayer ministry. She enjoyed writing about the adventures of her precious Pickles for the Madison Eagle as well as poems and songs. She also proved that people actually do win the Publisher's Clearing House this past September, 2013. Virginia's faith and her love of Christ had been the center of her life. She was a member and Elder of Fairview Christian Church. She lived what she believed and led by example. She is survived by her son, Richard "Richie" Hall of Madison; daughter, Melanie Lacy and husband, Alan, of Oak Park; her grandchildren, Will and Cassity Lacy; sisters, Mary Frances White of Orange, Helen Wickline of Florida, and Bobbie Lohr of Waynesboro; and her very special devoted friends, Leslie Stevens and Beulah Cason. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Hall. The family received friends Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Fairview Christian Church in Hood, Virginia. Funeral service was held Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery in the Town of Madison. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Fairview Christian Church General Fund or consider volunteering your time to a charity in her honor. She would have loved that.
