James Novak Obituary

James Sloane Novak, 76, of Sunnybank, died peacefully on September 7, 2023 with his two favorite women by his side: his wife, Anne, and his daughter, Jess.

He is also survived by his devoted brother-in-law, Bob Montgomery; his beautiful service dog, Finn; and his dear friends, including David Duani, J. and Beth Mahood, and Rob Vincent, among many others.

He loved dogs, women, and horses - not necessarily in that order.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2 p.m. on September 23rd at Hill & Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville. We invite you to make a donation to Paws with a Cause or Sentara Martha Jefferson Cancer Care Center to celebrate his memory.

We met casually in a queue at Disney land, Jim Anne and Jess. My family Annie, Libby and Mela spent the remainder of our holiday together.
We are English, we invited Jim’s family to join us in England, the Novaks invited our family to join them in their home,we also shared a wonderful week together in New York . I had no idea of Jim’s demise . I did some research and learned of Jim’s passing.
I’m in shock and can’t help
Please get my message to Anne. I loved you both so very much. It was a privilege to have met you both together with Jess.
So much time has lapsed, but I didn’t know. I send our deepest condolences and wish you so much love.
With sincere love Michael Preston

"He loved dogs, women, and horses - not necessarily in that order." I'll add that he loved Anne and Jess above anything else. No man could have had a more loving and devoted wife and daughter as he walked forward through a tough illness. One of the last things Jim wrote was about how very happy he was to be so loved by Anne and Jess. And he loved them fiercely in return. Any of us would be fortunate to be a member of such a circle of love. With heartfelt condolences, Sonjia
