Joy Cross Obituary

Joy Levick Cross passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the age of 84. She is survived by her devoted husband, Pete Cross; her children, Peter and Betsy Levick of Cincinnati, Ohio, Karen Levick Boyle of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Andy and Kristine Levick of Orlando, Florida, as well as her sister, Sally (and Joe) Kullman of Houston, Texas. She was loved by her seven grandchildren, Steven and Jamie Levick, Alexa and Drew Hill, Carly and David Naidoff, Sara Boyle, Isabel Boyle, Taylor and Angela Levick, Ryan Levick and three great-grandchildren.
Joy was born in Birmingham, Ala. on December 4, 1937 to Sara and Marshall Solomon. She attended Ohio State University, married Marvin Levick (deceased) and raised their family in New Orleans, La., where she had a career in jewelry and real estate sales.
Upon retirement she moved to Birmingham, Ala. where she met Pete Cross. They married on March 1, 1996 in Baltimore, Maryland and later settled in Charlottesville, Virginia where Joy developed her passion for painting. She became a successful artist whose paintings adorn many a home.
Joy will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 3:30 p.m., at The Center at Belvedere (Joy's favorite place), 540 Belvedere Blvd., Charlottesville, VA 22901 (434-974-7756). In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to Service Dogs of Virginia, PO Box 408, Charlottesville, VA 22902 (servicedogsva.org), or a charity of your choice.
