Larry Rubendall Obituary
January 21, 1935 - January 26, 2025
Larry L. Rubendall, 90 of 78 Fox Hunt Trail, Palmyra, Virginia died Sunday, January 26, 2025 at University of Virginia Medical Center.
Born January 21, 1935 in Freeport, Illinois he was the son of Daniel D. Rubendall Sr. and Hilda Ketelhut. He was a 1953 Graduate of Freeport High School. He attended Carthage College for three years and then served four years in the Air Force, specializing as a psychiatric social worker. He completed his studies at the University of Illinois receiving his bachelor's degree in education. He started at Kelly Springfield Tire Company in 1964 and worked as an industrial engineer, retiring in 1996. After retirement he moved to Palmyra, Virginia and enjoyed travel, playing bridge, volunteering at Fluvanna County Library and Charlottesville Senior Center and following his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
He married Barbara A. Bruesch on Oct 8, 1960 who preceded him in death on Oct 22, 2017. He remarried Judith Fletcher Clark on July 25, 1986, who preceded him in death on June 7, 1997. He remarried Lauvonda M. Young on June 9, 2007.
Surviving are his sons David S. Rubendall of Crozet, Va, Steven J. Rubendall of Bloomington, Il, 2 grandchildren, Laura N. Rubendall and Daniel S. Rubendall. His oldest son Brian D. Rubendall preceded him in death on April 20, 2020.
His sister Jean Skelton and two brothers Daniel Rubendall Jr., and Kenneth Rubendall died previously.
Funeral services were held at Panorama Natural Burials Cemetery, Ruckersville, Va on Feb 1, 2025.
