Mabel Anthony-Jones Obituary

Mabel "Ann" E. AnthonyJones, 47, of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, after a longterm illness of Multiple Sclerosis.

She was born to the late Robert N. Anthony Jr. and Mary Anthony Coletraine.

She is survived by one daughter, LaAndra Yvette Jones of Hampton, Virginia, and her father, Larry Jones; two brothers, Robert N. Anthony III and his wife, Carolyn, William R. Anthony and his wife, Yvonne, all of Charlottesville, Virginia; one nephew, Robert B. Anthony and his wife, Sekethia of Quantico, Virginia; two uncles, Charles Anthony and his wife, Alvalaz, of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Russell Anthony and his wife, Dorothy, of Washington, D.C.; one devoted, long-time friend, Yvette Freeman of Suitland, Maryland; two aunts, Margaret Brown of Lynchburg, who gave loving affection and care, and Mamie Wyatt of Charlottesville, Virginia; special cousins, Sylvia Woodfolk of Charlottesville, Virginia, Lisa Bond of Lynchburg, Virginia, Dorothy Powell and her husband of Roanoke, Virginia, Susie Davis and husband, Talvin, of Boston, Massachusetts and a host of other family and friends.

She was educated in Lynchburg, Virginia public schools and Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

She was an active member of Hope Chapter #12 OES and Pride of Virginia Court #2, Heroin's of Jericho. She worked for Computer-Science Corporation in Lanham, Maryland, before relocating to Charlottesville. After her relocation, she was employed by the University of Virginia in the department of Medical Records. Her kindness and loving spirit will forever be in our memories.

Special thanks for the many hours of love and care provided by her devoted caregivers, Henrietta Carter, Harriett Carter, Patricia Williams, and Clarice Williams.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Zion Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Services of comfort are entrusted to the staff of McClenny Funeral Service Inc. Doris A McClenny, mortician.
