James T. Marshall James T. Marshall, 80, of Charlottesville, passed on Monday, August 19, 2013, at Hospice House on Park Street. He was born on July 2, 1933, in Charlottesville; Jimmy was the son of the late Broadus and Rebecca Morris Marshall. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Martha Thomas Pugh Marshall; and his siblings, Mary Bell Collier, Clarice Arnold, William "Billy" Marshall, Charles Marshall, Franklin Marshall, and Bruce Marshall. Jimmy will be remembered for his love and exceptional skill in the craft of stone masonry learned during his 44-year career working in the trade. He was also a master gardener, hunter, woodworker and lover of the outdoors. He took pride in his work and in his family. He never met a stranger and never failed to help those in need. He was loved by his family, and all that knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House, for offering peace and comfort to dad in his last weeks of his battle with cancer as well as the comfort and peace they provided to his family. What they did allowed dad to die with dignity and that means more than words can say. Survived by a daughter, Kimberly Underwood and her husband, David, of Ruckersville; a step-daughter, Deborah Pugh of Staunton; granddaughters, Lakin and Kirsten Underwood; sisters, Virgie "Vee" Marshall of Charlottesville, and Tiny M. Johnson of Virginia Beach; a close family friend, Julia Morton; a very special nephew, David Marshall of Charlottesville, who was there in the end to offer comfort and support; plus many more nieces, nephews and life long friends. Services will be held at Hill and Wood Funeral Home on Saturday September 7, 2013. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel, officiated by Pastor Bruce Hunter. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy., #300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 www.hopva.org.
