Michael Scott Obituary

Michael Ivan Scott aka Mike, and Big Mike of Virginia Beach, Virginia transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Michael was born to the late Frederick N. Scott and Pastor Daisy L. Dyer.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; cousin Juanise (Nisey) Dyer and uncle Deacon Warren Dyer.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Sheila Renise Scott, VA Beach, VA., Mother, Pastor Daisy L. Dyer; two children, Emmanuel I Scott of Keswick, VA. and daughter, Elishia Faith Scott of Earlysville, VA., who were his heartbeats; a step-daughter, Nyieka Walker of Virginia Beach, VA.; Deangelo Gordon (super special friend); Granddaughters, Ava Marie Herndon-Scott, Tahiri Cornelia Randolph-Scott; One beloved brother, Patrick Nathaniel Scott; Donna Scott, mother of Michael's children; Special Father-in-law, Beverly Lee Walker (Dorothy), Mother-in-law, Flossie Louise Walker; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Walker and Lawrence Walker (Tanya); four aunts, Doris Johnson (Jay) of Temple Hills, Md, Apostle Barbara Brown, Vine Grove, Ky., Eunice Dyer, Gordonsville, VA., Carloe Copeland, Herndon, VA, Charlotte Nelson (Nate), Charlottesville, VA., Uncles; Elder Phillip Dyer (Deaconess Ida Louise Dyer), Keswick, VA., Reverend Dr. Lorenzo Dyer (Karen), Chesterfield, VA., and a great host of cousins and friends.

Michael accepted Christ at an early age at the Union Run Baptist Church in Shadwell, VA.; Michael graduated from Albemarle H.S. 1987 and rededicated his life to the Lord, and received the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues! He was taken from his home to Army Boot Camp in Fort Dix, New Jersey and sent directly overseas to Germany where he spent most of his time before discharge. He was top Chef while there and made rank of E4 Specialist.

He was in love with anything having to do with autos from when he was a toddler and could tell you anything you asked about them. Michael was also a lover of people and being in the company of others. Oh yeah, he had the memory of an elephant (Lol).

Michael began working at Krogers while still in H.S. and bought his first car from one of his teachers and was so proud. He worked many jobs over time including Red Lobster, Manager at the formerly known Colonnades Senior Home Dining Hall. His favorite of all was his work with the ACPD. He got to run code (race to urgent or dangerous situations). He needed to retire on disability due to injury on the job around 2007. His health began to decline for the past five years until his transition this past Wednesday.

Michael was an avid fan of his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He had a desperate love for family, especially his two children.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Union Run Baptist Church at 1 p.m. one hour before service at 2 p.m., with interment at Union Run Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to offer our deepest thanks to the staff and doctors at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.; it became personal for them. Also special thanks to the Union Run Baptist Church auxiliaries, combined Choirs and Keith Carter, musician. A special thank-you to Deaconess Ida Louise Dyer for all she has done.
