Sara Jane Sickinger Rich, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2015. She was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio, to the late Isabella and William Sickinger. Sara married John Robert Rich, Jr. on Sept 8, 1946. They were married for 39 years. She was preceded in death by son, William Rich, and sister, Dorothy Sickinger.She is survived by her children, Laura Soles (Bobby) of Richmond, John Rich III of Houston, Texas, and Charles Rich (Anita) of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Martha Rich Fischer (Richard); grandchildren, John IV, David, Laura Brooke (Kyle Counce), and Kathryn Tapp (Nick); great-grandchildren, Shannon, Jessica, Kaden, and William; and three siblings Arthur, Robert and William Sickinger. Her true loves were her family, gardening, flower arranging and bridge. Although raised in the Moravian church, she was a long-time member of Meadows Presbyterian Church.A Celebration of Life will be held at Meadows Presbyterian Church, Charlottesville, Va. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016. There will be a private interment in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Va. at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadows Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or online at www.alz.org/donate.
