Richard Anthony Schwarz, age 72, of Lake Monticello, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife and daughters by his side.Richard was born September 1, 1943, in New York City, to the late Philip and Marjorie (Bury) Schwarz. He is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend of 36 years, Kim Schwarz; two daughters of whom he was so proud, Jennifer Schwarz of Santa Ana, Calif., and Erin Halkin and her husband, Jeremy, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and grandchildren, Mikah and Zoey, whom he loved so much. Richard never got over losing his older brother, Philip Schwarz, but always maintained a deep friendship with his widow, Alvera Schwarz of Clovis, Calif. He always cherished his high school buddies Noel, Willie and Ray (Ambrose); his weekly lunch partner, Dick; his neighbors, Missy and George, Freddie and Diana, June; and in-laws Karen and David. He loved woodworking, fishing, boating, camping, computers and his dogs.Richard graduated from Massapequa High School, N.Y., in 1960. As a Captain in the U.S. Army, he commanded a NATO Missile Detachment. He received a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from Northrup University, where he also directed research. Later he earned his MBA from Pepperdine University. He then started his career at Rockwell International in positons of program management; systems engineering; financial planning; business development and operations director on numerous programs including GPS, Trident Sub Ship Stations, satellite, sonar, radar, sensor and missile technologies. He retired from Boeing in 2000. After Richard & Kim retired to Lake Monticello, he became active in his community with the Lake Monticello Contracts & Solicitations Committee, the Broadcast Group, Program Manager-5 year plan, and the Fluvanna County Citizens Water Committee.He wanted no service, but to be cremated and scattered between Catalina Island and Seal Beach, Calif., in a private memorial by his family and close friends, who will uphold his wishes.
