Ruby Sandridge Obituary

Ruby Starke Sandridge, 99, of Crozet passed away on Wednesday, 17, 2021 at Blue Ridge Adult Care.
She was predeceased by her parents, William F. Starke and Lura Hicks Starke; her husband, S Sgt. Clyde J. Sandridge; her four brothers, Vincent, Irvine, Ashton, Tom, and her two sisters, Grace and Betsy.
She was a lifelong member of Crozet Baptist Church where she served as financial secretary for 58 years. She was employed by Carl F. Barnes Lumber company for 25 years. She was a member of Crozet Woman's Club, Crozet Moonlighters Home Demonstration Club, the Crozet Crooners, the Red Hatters and was a Girl Scout Leader. She faithfully worked at the polls for years. She loved to travel especially with her beach buddies and played Bridge twice monthly. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved knitting and many other crafts.
She spent her final years in the loving care of the ladies at Blue Ridge Adult Care and Dr. Lily Hargrove.
She is survived by daughter, Judy Barber and her husband, Buck; two grandchildren, Jon Barber and his girls, Jordan and Becca Payne and Molly Osterried (Rob) and two great-granddaughters, Kate and Abby Osterried.
There will be a graveside service at Rock Gate Cemetery on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor David Collyer. Wearing masks is suggested. Upon her request there will be no viewing or family visitation. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Crozet Baptist Church Benevolence Fund 5804 St. George Ave. Crozet, Va. 22932.

Our sympathy and prayers go to Judy, Buck, Jon, and Molly, and all the family. Ruby lived a beautiful and meaningful life, had a wonderful spirit about her, and touched so many lives in a positive way, including ours. Ninety-nine years is quite a long lifetime to make memories and be an influence on others. May God's presence be near you as you celebrate and cherish her life.
