Albert N. Pioppi, Sr.

Roxbury Township - Albert N. Pioppi, Sr. passed away, peacefully, at home March 3, 2018. He was 86 years old.

Born April 28, 1931 in Lyon, France to Italian parents, Albert went to school in France before moving to Carrara, Italy. He immigrated to America via Ellis Island in 1951 and made Netcong, NJ his home and became an American Citizen. Albert served in the US Army, worked at Dover Handbag in Netcong and also for the Roxbury School System where he was head custodian at the Jefferson School in Succasunna.

Albert loved coaching Little League baseball, which he did for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, fly tying, reading and umpiring. His family enjoyed listening to Albert speak three languages fluently. He was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan.

Albert was predeceased by his parents, Vincenzo Pioppo and Maria DellaVolpe and a sister, Tina Pioppo Silicani.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rose M. DeFeo Pioppi, his brother Bruno Pioppo and wife Rosetta of Carrara, Italy , his sister Ida Pioppo Cappelletti and husband Brunetto of Pisa, Italy, his children, Maria Castelli and husband, Pete of Netcong, NJ, Albert N. Pioppi, Jr. and wife, Laura of Mechanicsburg, PA, his four granddaughters, Marisa Pellek and husband, Bryan, Denise Castelli, Krista Pioppi and Gina Pioppi and a great grandson, John Bryan. Also surviving are brother and sister in laws and many nieces and nephews.

Albert's family was the light of his life and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by all.

Albert's Life Celebration will include visiting on Friday March 9 from 4-8 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday March 10 at 9:30 AM at St. Michael's RC Church, 4 Church Street, Netcong, NJ. Albert will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township.
