Allen C. Mabee, Jr.

AGE: 79 • Mt. Bethel. PA

Allen C. Mabee, Jr., 79, of Mt. Bethel, PA, formerly of Mt. Olive Twp., NJ died peacefully on January 12, 2012 in Pocono Medical Center after a long illness, surrounded by loved ones. Born on November 29, 1932 in Lafayette, NJ, he was the son of Allen C. Mabee, Sr. and Edna W. Mabee. He was the husband of Joanne B. Mabee, with whom he celebrated their 58th anniversary in July. Allen served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was an agent for State Farm Insurance Companies for 36 years, retiring in 1997. He was a Mason, Musconetcong Lodge #151, Budd Lake, NJ and 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Trenton, Trenton, NJ. He was also a Shriner at Salaam Temple, Livingston, NJ. He was a Past Charter Member, Past President, Paul Harris Fellow of the Mt. Olive Rotary Club, Flanders, NJ. He served as the past Fire Chief of the Mt. Arlington Fire Co, Mt. Arlington, NJ and past member of the Mt. Olive Township Economic Development Committee and Mt. Olive Juvenile Conference Committee. He was a member of the American Legion Post 245, Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Mt. Olive Chamber of Commerce, Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 18, Chester, NJ, Starlight Chapter O.E.S., Budd Lake, NJ, National Association of State Farm Agents, and National Rifle Association.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Nan M. McWilliams of East Stroudsburg, PA and Cindi, wife of Dale Wilson, Mt. Bethel, PA. Grandchildren, Melissa, Lisa and her husband Steven, and Michael. Great Grandchildren, Bryce, Corrine and Eric. A grandson, Justin McWilliams, died in 2005. Allen is also survived by a sister, Marie Burt of Florida, aunts and uncle, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the James J. Palmeri Funeral Home 6602 Alpha Avenue, Martin's Creek, PA. Friends may call Monday from 7 to 8:30 PM and one hour prior to services. Interment in Hackettstown Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Pocono Medical Center or the Hughes Cancer Center, East Stroudsburg, PA. Online condolences may be offered at www.palmerifuneralhome.com

Dean and I attended D.H.S. with Allen and have fond memories of that time. Allen andI went to the senior prom together, as just good friends. I last saw him at the 25th DHS reunion, class of 1951. Rest in Peace Allen and our deepest sympathy to his family. Evelyn and Dean Tuttle

My deepest sympathy to the family. I met Al in 1977 in Rotary when I opened my office in Chester, N.J. He attended many meetings with our local Rotary Club. He was my State Farm insurance agent until he retired. He had a great personality and was highly respected.
