Douglas P. Manser

On Saturday, December 19, 2020, Douglas P. Manser, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, passed away at the age of 65.

Doug was born in Dover, New Jersey on August 29, 1955, a son of the late Clarence Manser and Joyce Knott (Van Kirk).

He was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School, Oak Ridge, NJ, Class of 1974. From there he joined the Navy and was a Nuclear Missile Technician aboard the submarines, specifically the USS Daniel Webster.

Doug has always had a passion for the food business and started his career of being a Store Director/General Manager after leaving the Navy. He worked for many supermarkets such as Pathmark, Red Apple/Gristedes, D'Agostinos Supermarkets, Mayfair Foodtown, Ronetco Shop-Rite, A&P Supermarkets, and his current job with Jack's Foodtown in Bloomfield, NJ.

Doug has sadly left behind his wife Robin and stepdaughter, Brooke, his daughter Abigail, and his sons Todd (and wife Jamie), and Greg. He has also sadly left behind his brothers, Steven (wife Penny), Jeffrey (wife Meg) and Tim (wife Linh) and sister Kim (husband Aldo), his grandchildren, Daniel, Nathan and Ashley, his nephews, nieces, and many friends and co-workers. He is predeceased by his parents Clarence Manser and Mother Joyce Knott and his oldest son, Christopher Alan Manser who passed away on November 5, 2017.

Doug further leaves behind his many fur babies who miss his daily affection and numerous snacks.

Doug was known for his quick wit, his many jokes, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit.

The family of Douglas Manser would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at St. Lukes, Monroe Campus, for their guidance, patience, efforts, and compassion during the past month.

There are no services planned at this time however a memorial will be scheduled for some time in 2021. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.

Thanks for the many laughs and great times working at the Denville A&P. They were some great times. I know those were some of the best times for Doug, as we spoke many times about our times over a 4 year period. Will always remember those times. RIP my Friend! Prayers to the entire Manser family
